BobFest — The Music of Bob Dylan

BOBFEST

“Talk about breathing new life into old chestnuts … This is Big Time.” — Vin Scelsa, Idiot’s Delight

From humble beginnings at a downtown Red Bank café, BobFest, the musical celebration of Bob Dylan’s birthday, grew into what a New Jersey rock journalist once called “New Jersey’s hippest musical event.” Now, BobFest is hitting the road.

From Toronto to Mexico and California to Florida, veteran New Jersey troubadour Pat Guadagno and his band of Tired Horses deliver the music of the Nobel Prize–winning songwriter as only they can – with the passion, reverence and fire that have become Guadagno’s trademark.

The core band – a curious congregation of extremely talented musicians, each bringing their own particular style of magic to the stage has welcomed some very special guest performers over the past 25 years, including roots-rock trailblazer Steve Forbert, Blues Brother Rob Paparozzi, Burlap to Cashmere’s Steve Delopoulos, Blue Öyster Cult’s Buck Dharma, Styx’s Glen Burtnik, Shania Twain guitarist Mark Muller, and Rolling Thunder bassist and musical director Rob Stoner, to name a few.The show evolves each year, commemorating epic tours, album anniversaries, and birthday milestones:

50th Anniversary – The Times They Are A-Changin’
Songs of War & Peace – Theres a Lot of ’em
Rolling Thunder Revue – w/ Rob Stoner
Bootleg Rare & Unreleased – Never Heard That One!
61st Birthday Celebration – 61 Dylan Songs
In the Round – Nashville Style

The most memorable BobFest moments have had little to do with the stage itself – singing with my daughter, playing alongside my brother, and sharing the music with friends who make up the BobFest family. We also remember those who are no longer with us – musicians, friends, and members of the family like Yuri, Doc, Unc and Jules, whose eternal presence continues to inspire us.
